Welcome to Core4Parenting!
At Core4Parenting, we teach intentional language and collaborative discipline to help parents and educators turn everyday challenges into moments of connection, learning, and growth.
Our Origin Story
It grew from an observation.
Our founder, Cara Tyrrell, noticed the majority of her students were not ready to learn in all areas of her classroom.
Successful learners in school (and life) demonstrate strong skills in social, emotional, spatial, physical, and interpersonal domains both in small and large group settings.
Year after year, Cara experienced statistics come to life in her classroom. Only 4-out-of-10 of her young, eager, happy students were ready to learn in all areas of the classroom. This meant that she had to spend the majority of her time meeting the needs of the other 60% compromising the overall classroom learning trajectory.
Every day, parents dropped their kids off saying, “I’m so glad you’re their first teacher”. One day, Cara had a lightbulb moment.
85% of brain growth and foundational skill development is done by 5.
Her students were already 5 when they entered her classroom.
Her student’s learning journey began at birth and their parents were their true first teachers!
Cara’s Professional Pivot
From Teacher to Nanny - The Birth of Core4
What if there’s a better way?
That’s the question Cara asked as she tested and validated her Core4Methodology in real homes with real families over 9 years.
A sample of her findings
The parent/child & caregiver/child early bond is critical for later learning opportunities.
Parenting mindset and perspective are the foundation for healthy relationships.
The way we talk to kids from birth builds their brain.
Simple, predictable routines with repeatable outcomes create an ideal zone of learning for infants and toddlers.
The Pandemic Effect
The COVID-19 pandemic changed the parenting experience drastically. Almost overnight, long, busy days became longer and busier with the added expectation of full-time parenting while working a full-time job.
Cara knew it was the right time to bring early-years solutions to the masses of conscious parents.
After all, we’re raising human beings and that takes awareness, intention, and education.
Nature Vs. Nurture
Parenting is:
the biggest job
the most massive life transition
filled with unexpected challenges for the next 18 years (and beyond).
We see you and respect your desire to parent on purpose.
If parenting feels harder than you expected and power struggles, meltdowns, or self-doubt are taking up more space than joy - you don’t need another script or quick fix.
You need clarity.
You need language that works with a child’s developing brain—not against it.
And you need support that honors both the adult and the child in the relationship.
Let’s talk about where you are, what’s feeling heavy,
and how small shifts in language and perspective
can change everything over time.

Cara Tyrrell, M.Ed., B.A. ASL & Linguistics
Cara Tyrrell, M.Ed. is an early language expert, parent educator, and teacher trainer whose work is reshaping how parents, caregivers, and educators connect and communicate with children in the earliest years of life. With degrees in American Sign Language (ASL), Linguistics and a Master’s in Education, Cara began her career teaching preschool and kindergarten. There, she discovered that while many students entered school knowing their ABCs and 123s, they lacked the social, emotional, and interpersonal skills essential for lifelong success. Parents would often tell her, “We’re so glad you’re their first teacher,” but Cara knew she wasn’t—their parents were.
This realization led her to found Core4Parenting, then develop her Collaborative Parenting Methodology™ and Collaborative Discipline framework that blends the soul of human connection with the science of early learning, empowering adults to raise emotionally intelligent children. At the center of her work is her belief that our words are one of the most powerful tools we have to build a child’s identity, confidence, and ability to succeed in school and life. Her keynotes teach parents and educators how to use intentional language to unlock connection, regulation, and resilience.
Through her book Talk to Them Early and Often, her top-ranking podcast Transforming the Toddler Years, and her sought-after keynotes and trainings, she is teaching parents and educators how to talk to kids in their earliest years to build their brain, their body, and their identity.
As a thought leader and fierce advocate for the COVID Generation (GEN-C), Cara champions the needs of children navigating post-pandemic life. Cara’s mission is simple yet profound: to redefine how we see and support young children by equipping the adults in their lives with the tools—and the words—to raise confident, resilient, and deeply connected human beings.
“The most tenured graduates of my programs on our youngest’s graduation day! Watching my girls thrive as adults is all I could have ever dreamed and more.”
- Cara Tyrrell
Before launching Core4, Cara invested nearly a decade validating her methodology to large groups virtually. Here she was able to run courses and refine delivery models that ensured parents were equipped to become their child’s first teacher.
She finds deep joy empowering parents as they raise whole children: body, mind, and spirit by providing them with a personalized parenting tool kit to be their child’s first and best teacher!
Cara’s dream? To see the next generation of world-ready kids-turned-adults add value to our world using their unique gifts.
